Maryland is standing still amidst the suffocating loop of gambling pressure, exerted by the neighboring countries. This pressure seems to have no feasible end and the reason for such conduct is that encompassing countries with expanded gambling, catering roulette and other casino games covet the Marylander’s money.
West Virginia operators of more than 10,000 slots situated at four race tracks are vying against the imminent addition of 61,000 legal slots to Pennsylvania by legislating casino-type games such as roulette and blackjack. Delaware is now on alert as well ruminating over addition of roulette and slots, once Pennsylvania joins the gambling contention.
Even Nevada, a sate permeated with roulette gambling and other Vegas style games, where almost $11 billion was drained last year by gambling activities, the foundation of at least half of the state funds is on its way to remove the 140-year old state lottery prohibition. The legislators backing this move argue that lottery is more stabilized source of revenues than casinos.
