New craze in the world of gambling has largely been associated with roulette FOBTs (fixed-odds-betting terminals), which were introduced in 2001. What is especially luring about those gambling devices is that they offer best payoffs and one can rake up to £500, which is 20 times more than on the regular fruit machine.
GamCare, a non-profit organization, funded by the gambling industry released a report detailing figures pointing to adverse effects of touch-screen roulette machines. According to the report, roulette machines were the cause behind the allegedly dramatic rise in gambling addiction, resulting in numerous numbers of calls to the help line concerning roulette FOBTs.
GamCare’s report has shown that the number of people calling to the help line surged by 4%, reaching 6,900, in comparison to the previous year. What is even more worrying is that that the number of those complaining about roulette machines soared up to 22%, compared to only 13% last year.
Moreover, the report delineates that more severe gambling addiction procreates from roulette machines and the younger generation seems to be highly susceptible to this vice.
