Bingo parlors have always concerned officials, since it was seen as the first step towards the gambling deployment to such casino games as roulette, blackjack, poker and others.
The Catawba tribe is eager to establish a bingo parlor next to the Santee offering non-stop gambling activities. The games would be connected to the high-stake parlors, where weighty payouts would be available. Since the previous year, the bill got frozen and this year, senators are considering whether or not to allow local government prohibit casino boats on their coast.
Currently, those who reside in South Carolina and want to indulge in roulette, blackjack and other casino games gambling, can take a boat cruise crossing the state boarders and gamble in places that allow it. There is no law against boat cruises.
The tribe does not wish to give up on bingo parlors pending the permission of officials. The debates between Hutto, D-Orangeburg, and Sen. Wes Hayes, R-Rock Hill over casino games such as roulette, blackjack and bingo took place last week.
