Four years ago at Harrah’s casino in New Orleans, a couple engaged to be married embarked on a venture to try its luck at the casino roulette wheel. Allison Vines and her future husband Slade Rushing were about to leave for Manhattan for New York and the night before decided to visit a local casino.
The couple indeed was lucky winning $700 on a single spin of a roulette wheel staking no more than twenty dollars. Ms. Vines-Rushing noted that at that time they took the winning to be the premonition that leaving for New York is the right move to undertake.
Miraculously they were right again. Having no prior experience in running the restaurant kitchen before the arrival to New York, few years later they’ve been able to achieve the James Beard Foundation award for the first chefs of the year. Their innovative Southern cuisine was marked by the press and received many praises from the public.
