International Games Technology (IGT) has recently acquired the GPIC (Gaming Partners International Corporation), including 50 percent on the patens by Shuffle Master, the licenses of which are held by the GPIC. GPIC specializes in supply of casino accessories such is roulette, blackjack, poker, baccarat and roulette tables, also gaming chips, playing cards, dice etc.
Operated from Las Vegas, Nevada , GPIC holds offices in France, San Luis, Mexico and Atlantic City, New Jersey. A number of patens are accredited to its name. Among some of them are the RFID microchips, implanted in ordinary gaming chips. Additionally, the company has license on the shared patent ownership of SHFL and IGT for incorporation of RFID chips with readers, used for tracking down the implanted RFID chips. GPIC also sells RFID chips and readers to the casinos, offering such table games as roulette, blackjack, craps and others, for better control over currency.
Microchip implants, by GPIC were first manufactured about 10 years ago. During this time, the company has gained much expertise and success in this area. Those chips are no different from familiar casino chips, neither in touch, nor in appearance and are widely utilized in roulette games. Casino managers thus can better overview the gaming procedure, currency and security wise.
