The culture of Moscow’s casino life can easily be estimated by the inconceivable combination of impoverished economy and a seeming showcase of wealth. Roulette wheels are spun by visitors arriving in Bentleys and Porches to gamble away their assets.
Moscow casinos, like Golden Palace provide top dressed staff, fashioned with gorgeous women, serving alcohol and other amenities on the house. In the winter time, the games of roulette, blackjack and others become a secondary attraction as visitors are ushered into a mini zoo to watch a variety of species pacing to and fro. Golden Girls strip club, the adjunct of the casino, where top model looking girls are being lavished with grand winnings.
Yet, there is a less attractive side to this industry, a 24 hour gambling halls, bunched around the Kievsky train station. High rollers do not dare to cross porches of these facilities to play their favorite game of roulette. Here, a rugged crowd of homeless people make up at least 50 % of the potential punters, who normally cling to the cans of cheap bear. The team work is especially impressive here as there is always someone ready to purchase his or hers mobile phone to finance that final stroke of luck.
Everyone seems to be happy, but Andrei Metelsky, deputy chairman of the Moscow city parliament, contended recently that, the gambling business is lethal for citizens, similar to drugs and alcohol.
