While this headline may be a little ahead of its time, soon enough, visitors to Las Vegas casinos might be able to play roulette on portable devices. A new law was approved in Nevada that would allow players to shoot their craps dice or bet on roulette while waiting in the queue for the evening show, sitting at the pool, or dining in a restaurant.
Kenny Guinn, Governor of Nevada, recently signed a new law approving wireless, portable handheld gaming machines and devices on the premises of the hotel-casinos in the state. This new law will likely bring huge extra profits to the hotel-casinos. These devices, according to the new law, may only be used in the public areas of casinos that own over 100 slot machines and offer one or more gambling games other than slots, such as roulette, or blackjack, for example. No use of the devices will be allowed inside hotel rooms or any other private zone, and they won't be used overnight.
The portable wireless devices will link to a server that will be able to locate them at any given time and make sure the gamblers don't go into the "forbidden zones." So who knows?
