The Emerald Princess is a gambling cruise ship operated by Grand Isle Casino Cruise Lines, supplying games such as roulette, slots, craps, and poker to passengers. The ship currently docks in Brunswick, GA, but it may be moving to the Port of Pensacola to try to bring gambling back to the Hurricane Katrina-devastated Gulf Coast region.
While the Emerald Princess will not be licensed to operate a casino in Florida, ships that are twelve miles or more off of the coast are allowed to operate casino games, as they are no longer considered under Florida's jurisdiction. Until they get out into international waters, though, the roulette wheels, dice, and cards must be kept under lock and key. While there is no word yet on exactly when the Emerald Princess could dock in the Port of Pensacola, it will probably be soon.
