An Internet café owner in the South East Asian nation of Brunei pleaded guilty to charges that he used his business as a front for gambling activities. Authorities in the city of Kuala Bealit received a tip that gambling games, such as roulette, were being offered at Chen Kim Veng's Internet café, contrary to the law. Based on this information, police officers raided the property on March 8, finding computerized roulette and blackjack games among the ordinary cyber-offerings. Further investigation revealed that customers could gain access to the games by making a minimum $5 bet at the cashier.
During the raid, authorities confiscated cash and 19 computers from the establishment. Chen Kim Veng faces fines or a two-month prison sentence for running illegal gambling activities.
