Staff from the portal traveled to Washington DC and successfully delivered 435 information packets to every US representative in Congress on Friday last week.
The packets contained the substantial petition to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that the site has been sponsoring, together with 10 reasons why Internet gambling should be legalized, and a CD that contained all the testimony from the Financial Services Committee hearing on the regulation of Internet gambling.
Each packet was hand addressed to individual Congressmen and women and the project was titled 'The IGREA Initiative'. The title refers to Congressman Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act which seeks to legalise and regulate online gambling in the United States.
"We did our part," commented a Casino Gambling Web staffer who helped deliver the 435 packets, "Now it's up to the 15-25 million Americans we went there to fight for to start calling their Congress people and express their support for 'The IGREA Initiative'."
Congressman Frank and other US politicians who believe in regulation rather than prohibition have repeatedly stressed how important it is for politicians to hear the voices of voters they represent. They have urged American online players to email or phone their political representatives to ask that they reject UIGEA and support the Frank Bill. |
