Roulette Rules Part 2
On this page we'll continue to explain everything there is to know about the different roulette betting strategies and bets . Since we've already discussed the outside bets in the previous rules page by Roulette 2002, this page will discuss the inside bets.
Inside Bets
The main difference between the two major types of bets - inside and outside bets - is based on the minimum bet of the table. For example, take a table with a minimum bet of $20. This means that when placing an outside bet, it doesn't matter how many bets you put - every bet has to be of at least $20. The inside bets, on the other hand, only have to sum up to this minimum of $20. You can place twenty bets of $1, five bets of $4, or divide your bet into non-equal bets, as you wish. Everything goes, as long as the total of the inside bets is $20 or more.
Straight Up: A bet placed on a single number. You pick a single number upon which to place your chips. This number has to be inside the board, and can be 0 or 00 as well as the rest of the numbers. If the roulette result is your number, you get a payback of 35 to 1, meaning for every dollar you bet, you get $36 back ($35 plus your initial $1 bet).
Split:
This bet it a fine example of the dispersal of inside bets. This bet, as implied by its name, splits your bet in half across two adjacent numbers on the roulette board. When you want to place a split bet, all you have to do is place the chips on the line between the numbers. Winning this bet pays back 17 to 1 for either of the two numbers. You can only bet on adjacent numbers from the same column or the same row, never on numbers which are diagonally connected on the board.
Street Bet:
This bet is much like the split bet, as you bet on 3 numbers from the same row (different columns). The bet is placed on the outside edge line of the row on which you wish to bet, and pays 11 to one.
Corner Bet:
Similar to the split and street bets, this bet combines four numbers of the roulette board in one bet. The four numbers must form a square with an intersecting point between all of them. This intersection is where the bet is placed. The payback is 8 to 1 when winning this bet.
The Five Number Bet:
This is a unique bet in the roulette rules, due to the fact that the house edge is different to this bet than to all the other bets. Unfortunately for the players, this specific bet's house edge works against them rather than in their favor. Betting the 5 number bet means you bet the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. The payback here is only 6 to 1, which means that you make less profit on this bet than on any other.
