A survey conducted in the UK by the gambling webside 888.com and the magazine Insider Edge shows that 22% of the participants prefer the roulette. More than 2700 people across the UK were interviewed over three months in order to assess UK’s gambling habits.
According to the findings of the survey, 39% of the participants prefer to play poker, 22% prefer the roulette and 18% prefer to play blackjack. It seems that land-based casinos remain popular but the growing success of the online gaming industry is beyond doubt. The findings indicate that in the UK alone, 4 million people gamble online each month. Moreover, the amount of money wagered online has risen by 566% since 2003.
The UK marketing manager claims that the gaming industry is in a massive boom at the moment and that the UK is one of the top five markets. Only last week they registered the thirteen millionth member, he added.
The numbers might worry those who fear that the UK’s craze for online gambling is increasing. The question remains whether the gambling bill that will enable currently off-shore gaming companies to operate within the UK, will increase the online gaming craze.
One of the biggest problems with offshore casinos is that they operate outside government control which affects the users of the site as personal information may be intercepted and children can easily register to gamble.
According to the spokesperson of the Gaming Board, the laws that were created forty years ago are no longer relevant to modern gambling.
