The campaign operated by the Britain's most prominent bookmaker has recently been unveiled exposing its illicit shielding by the controversial Gambling Bill. The lobbying campaign targeted primarily to eliminate any initiations to top the Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs), which allow players to bet up to £100 a hand on virtual roulette games that pay out up to £500.
The revealed documentation pointed that Ladbrokes senior executives drafted several campaign meetings and various parties with Government Ministers and other influential MPs amidst the run-up to the publication of the Bill. A lavish dinner party at the Park Lane Hotel was projected to take place in which company executives were supposed to meet William Perrin, Downing Street's adviser on FOBT's roulette gambling matters.
The company's spokesman said he sees no wrong in normal democratic lobbying process, but refused to detail the discussion of the private meetings held.
